Information
Pearl and Dearl Aragonite are twins whose parents were pharmacists in Brilliant City. A medicinal mishap took their lives, however, making their children orphans and forcing them to fend for themselves and look after each other. They live on the outskirts of Brilliant City and make a living through their pharmacy in the town marketplace, where they sell a wide range of potions and elixirs. Their actual talent for chemistry is debatable, though.
Pearl is a lively and energetic girl, and serves as the frontman for their business, trying to shill whatever potion she can to people passing by. She's always keen to boost business by any means possible, and one recurring idea is to hijack By and C-Mond as mascots - it never works out, though.
She's very chipper and enthusiastic, almost to the point of appearing one-track-minded, but she's still very human. She doesn't hide her emotions - she's always concerned for Dearl's wellbeing, and she's still quite torn up over her parents' death and her rough childhood.
Dearl is a quiet and withdrawn boy, though with a natural talent for concocting medicines, something he learnt from his father and his love for reading.
Although shy, this trait isn't anywhere near as exaggerated as with the likes of Thyst; he very rarely talks to people when Pearl is about, and on his own he falls victim to every social blunder imaginable. He always means well and tries his hardest to help and protect his twin sister, though his competence is rather lacking, especially without her confidence (or pigheaded-ness, alternately) to back up his actions.

Pearl and Dearl's parents worked in a pharmacy, but when the children were seven years old, a freak explosion during medicine preparation took the lives of their parents. Following that, they took up the mantle and opened a small pharmacy on the edge of town, the two living together.
Pearl is cheerful and full of vigour, but is also very familial, taking responsibility for their daily livelihood. Meanwhile, Dearl has a quiet and gloomy attitude, but has great talent for brewing medicine, clearly inherited from their parents. Pearl's hobby is cooking; Dearl's hobby is reading.

5才:この頃からパールは母の手伝いの為、料理に興味を持つ。弟のデールは父の後を継ぐために薬の調合(その他)の本を読み始める。
6才:母が二人に薬屋の衣装を作ってくれる。そのワンポイントとしてアラゴナイト家の先祖から受け継いだ「真珠」「黒真珠」を着けてくれる。秘石は「真珠」の方。
7才:ブリリアント市の市場に、パールとデールが露店を出している最中に白宅で爆破が起き、両親が死亡する。
7才～14才:ブリリアント市の外れに小さな薬屋を開き2人で暮らし始める。

Age 0: The twins born to the Aragonite family, who worked in the Brilliant City pharmacy. The sister was named Pearl, and the brother Dearl.
Age 5: From her time spent helping her mother, Pearl gains an interest in cooking. Dearl excels in concocting medicine after reading books on the subject with his father's help.
Age 6: Their mother makes clothes for the two, the design inherited from the Aragonites' ancestors; it features points designated for a pearl and a black pearl. The Secret Stone Pearl was attached to it.
Age 7: While Pearl and Dearl are manning the stalls in the Brilliant City marketplace, an explosion occurs from within the pharmacy, killing their parents.
Age 7~14: The two siblings live together and run a pharmacy on the outskirts of Brilliant City.
Age 14: The two overhear tales of the Secret Stones amidst the marketplace, and believe their power will help revive their deceased parents. (translation)

Notes
Dearl's name is translated as Dale in the Game Boy version. Either translation is correct, though Dearl is preferred to keep the name theme running. "Pearl & Dale" hasn't as much ring to it.

Attack Pattern
Pearl's attack pattern is to fill all rows but the far left. The reverse of Rald's, it shares the same traits; although requiring a lot of chains to fill up the enemy's screen, constantly filling in their gaps is a brilliant tactic to make life tough for them.
When facing Pearl as an opponent, look for a way into the left column to whittle down the blocks.
